GETTING STARTED:
Jeffrey first got into fishing from the banks of irrigation ponds, as a young child, on his grandfather's tobacco farm. When he got older, he and his grandfather would take fishing trips to the coast of North Carolina, where they would spend long weekends either fishing in the surf or on a public pier for croaker. Jeffrey got away from fishing during college and later, when he concentrated on tobacco farming. Not until after meeting and marrying his wife, Wanda, who also was born and raised on a tobacco farm, did he return to fishing.
In 1988, he joined a local B.A.S.S. Federation Club, where he found the competitive desire to succeed. Jeffrey soon qualified for the N.C. B.A.S.S. Federation State Tournament. After 2 years, he begin fishing some regional and national tournament circuits. First, fishing the Grand National Circuit in 1990, winning 1 event; becoming Grand National Angler of the Year runner up; and finishing 17th at the Grand National Championship held on Sam Rayburn, TX. Second, Jeffrey begin fishing the Red Man Trail, now known as the Wal-Mart BFL, in 1991. He went on to qualify for 3 BFL All-Americans.
In 1994, Jeffrey begin fishing the B.A.S.S. Invitationals, qualifying for the B.A.S.S. Top 100 Pro Am trail his first year. Since then, he has competed in the B.A.S.S. Tour, B.A.S.S. Opens and also the Wal-Mart FLW Tour and Stren Series. When Jeffrey is not fishing on the tournament trails, he spends his time teaching through his guide service, Carolina Outdoors. Also maintaining his website, www.carolinaoutdoors.net, ranked as one of the top 50 in overall fishing websites on the internet. Jeffrey also is a very popular guest speaker for area fishing clubs, outdoor shows, and special events.
